What Causes Dizziness After Doing Ammonia Test On Fish Aquarium?

I just did an ammonia test on my fish aquarium, which required me to handle sodium hydroxide and sodium hypochlorite. After I rinsed the test tube in the sink, I began to feel dizzy and I thought I smelt an ammonia-like smell. Have I been poisoned, or am I just psyching myself out after reading the warning labels?
