Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband is sensitive to dehydration. Over the weekend he went to work and the hvac was not turned on. He stayed 15 minutes and left and has felt dizzy and lightheaded ever since. He s been drinking copious amounts of Gatorade. He pees a lot--it is light and clear, he is not thirsty nor has dry mouth, nor does he think he has a fever. Could this be some sort of allergic reaction?
Dear concerned wife, drinking too much Gatorade is not good for your husband. Gatorade is a scientifically designed drink to maintain fluids and salts in bodies of athletes and heavy exercisers, who lose a lot of salt and water thru sweating. it is ok to take it once in a while, but in case of being prone to dehydration it is always better to be rehydrated with fluids like milk, water, buttermilk, fruit juices with a pinch of salt, freshlime with salt and sugar, and best of all, coconut water. too much gatorade has probably caused an electrolyte imbalance in your husband which causes him dizziness and light headedness each time body isnt able to reset this balance. pls give him natural fluids as much as possible.
