Hi,
The reasons for his symptoms of shortness of
orthostatic hypotension (dizziness on getting up from sitting) and dizziness (especially on exertion) after an
angioplasty could be due to associated anemia, congestive
heart failure, re-stenosis of the stent applied or an underlying paroxysmal
arrhythmia. Congestive cardiac failure (CCF) can lead to decreased pumping of the heart which eventually leads to decreased blood flow to the brain and increased
blood stasis in the lungs causing dizziness and breathlessness.
Re-stenosis of the stent with a blood clot can rarely occur within a month of stent placement leading to the above symptoms and may increase the risk of mortality. Certain undiagnosed arrhythmias, which may be life threatening, can also contribute to the same symptoms. I would suggest you to consult your father's cardiologist at the earliest for an echo (rule out CCF), Holter (Rule out arrhythmia) blood tests, and further assessment of the condition.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
