Over the last 3 or 4 years, I will fall down for no reason. It s like I get dizzy for a quick second, then I come crashing down (dizzy). I seem to fall forwards most of the time. Although I will usually fall without serious injuries (maybe just embarrassment), I have fallen many times with injuries, with the most serious ones resulting in stitches on forehead (just above my eyebrow) and teeth being knocked out (separate occasions and both times I was unconscious for a few seconds or so). I am a 47 year old female with Graves Disease (I have a large goiter). I have noticeable tremors (I rarely am without the tremors and it increases significantly with stress). Can you please give me some kind of idea what s wrong with me? Is it related to a thyroid issue? Thank you for any guidance you can give me.
Hi, dizziness severe enough to make you crash forward can be a mild form of epilepsy or TIA (transient ischaemic attack). You should see a neurologist for this. But before that, let us think of less severe and more common causes.I hope your blood glucose, and blood pressure are normal. Although not common, I have also had patients who have felt dizzy and fallen due to severe acidity. Since you fall forward, it may not be vertigo due to an ear problem, but it should also be ruled out.And lastly a severe cervical spondylosis can also be responsible. I do not think it is due to Grave's disease. I hope I have been helpful. Regards
