Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Dizziness And Headache While On Nystatin?
I was given Nystatin 100,000Units/Ml Suspension for a fungal infection in my mouth. Have been experiencing dizziness and headache after taking a dose swishing and swallowing per instructions. Contacted the pharmacy since it was after 5 on a Friday night. She didn t think it had anything to do with the medicine. But I took it again and experienced the same symptoms along with a tingling through my legs and arms. Is this normal or something abnormal?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
What you are describing it is not a side effect given by Nystatin. Since it looks like you have it only when you take the medicine, then it may be an anxiety reaction from taking it. If those symptoms last for more then 1 week, then consider seeing our doctor so they can consider giving you another treatment. But again, I want to reassure you that Nystatin does not give those side effects.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
