What Causes Dizziness And Hot Flashes While Suffering From An Enlarged Prostate?

My 75 year old step father has recently been diagnosed with a enlarged prostate which cause acute urinary blockage. After 3 trips to the ER, he is still experience dizziness and hot flashes, mainly in his face and neck. After the last trip, 5 days ago, the tests showed that the resulting bladder infection is nearly gone, but the spells continue. Tests of his heart functions came back good. His son is now convinced he is having TIA s and wants him to go back to the ER again! Could there be a simpler explanation for these spells? Cheryl brown

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Transient ischemic attacks (TIAs) are usually acompained by, headache, numbness or weakness in the face, arm, or leg. Hot flashes aren't typical for TIAs. However, you can take him to ER for a neurological examination, to exclude TIA, because symptoms are not always absolute in medicine.
If he has enlarged prostate he has to check PSA blood level analysis to exclude prostate cancer.
You should also consider that these might be anxiety signs.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
