What Causes Dizziness And Nausea In A Child?

Hello, My sone has been swimming for 9 years, he is 12 now. Recently we have him in a water polo type swimming session. Two sessions in a row, he is unable to continue to swim after 30-40 minutes. He says he feels dizzy, and get nauseous. He then start to vomit and cannot keep anything down. Even water makes him throw up. Short of being a virus, which he already had, what could it be?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Most likely this is a viral prodrome (beginning of a viral illness). Let him take rest for 3 days, give ondansetron 4mg 2-3 times daily for vomiting and Paracetamol if fever comes. If no relief in 2 days, kindly consult your doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
