What Causes Dizziness And Nausea When Diagnosed With Migraine?
I have a history of severe migraines. I was on topiramate for years, but I finally went off of it in October. I have had about the same number of migraines since October. Since Saturday, I have been in severe pain taking my rizatriptan to try to break the cycle. My face and left shoulder ache; I think it is muscles (I have had this in the past with migraines) and I have nausea almost constantly. I also have been very dizzy and lightheaded especially in the mornings. I am wondering if this is all consistent with migraines or something else. Should I restart my topiramate?

Your symptoms are not typical of migraine. For this reason, I would recommend consulting with your doctor and performing some tests to investigate for other possible causes that may lead to this clinical situation:
- a cervical spine X ray study for chronic degenerations - complete blood count - PCR, sedimentation rate for inflammation. An antihistamine (dimenhydrinate) may help improve the dizziness, coupled with paikillers (acetaminophen, ibuprofen) and a muscle relaxant (Flexeril).
