Hi, my daughter is diagnosed with mono since 3 weeks ago. She is 23, a Stanford student. Since 11 days ago, she has developed dizziness and sever imbalance. She can t even sit for 2 minutes. She has been hospitalized because she couldn t keep in at all. Now she s home. But we are very anxcious about her dizziness. Especially we want to know how long might this dizziness last. Should we see an ENT? Is there anything that we could do to make this dizziness better?
The commonest causes in such a case can be as follows: * Infection or inflammation spread to the vestibular apparatus situated in inner ear that is responsible for balance * The fluid pressure changes in one or more of the 6 semicircular canals causes dizziness and imbalance * Vomiting is secondary to these effects
Since she is admitted the bed rest becomes compulsory and most advisable. Continue treatment of hydration. To continue symptomatic and specific treatment after proper investigations like MRI, antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medicines as should have been already advised.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
