Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I recently woke up from a nap feeling a little light headed and slightly dizzy. I am prediabetic so I first checked my glucose level. It was 169 but I had just eaten half of an apple. About thirty minutes later, I had a nosebleed that lasted about 5-10 minutes. I haven t had a nosebleed in more than 40 yrs. I remain a bit lightheaded but other wise feel ok. Just concerned what my next action should be as I plan to do nothing unless I continue to have further nosebleeds. I have not taken any aspirin but do use a CPap machine when I sleep or nap due to snoring issues, NOT sleep apnea. ( CPap was the result of a restless leg syndrome dx.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Early morning dizziness is due to sleep apnea is actually an obstructive breathing condition, which means you temporarily stop breathing at night if you have it. Those interruptions in breathing can lead to lower oxygen levels, which could cause dizziness in the morning when you wake up. Other possibilities like BPPV, dehydration, medications, middle ear infection etc. Avoid sleep apnea at night by CPAP with oxygen. use tablet Vertin thrice a day for five days. Check your blood pressure.
If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
