Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Dizziness Followed By Profuse Sweating?
I am a very fit 71 year-old woman who walks 3 miles every day and runs 5 1/2 miles every other day. The other day I felt very mild lightheadedness and then experienced profuse generalized sweating soaking all my clothes. The sweating lasted for about 10 minutes and then stopped as suddenly as it started. There was no feeling of extreme heat as with hot flashes. I have never had any medical conditions nor taken prescription medications. Also, I do not experience anxiety and was relaxed on vacation.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Excessive sweating could be physiological if this does not happens with some symptom like dyspnea, breathing difficulty, fainting, if these symptoms are there then condition need to be ruled out for cardio pulmonary disease and brain pathology, else it is nothing to worry, hormone changes may be the cause and it is the physiological phenomenon.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
