What Causes Dizziness In The Mornings While On Valsartan And Metoprolol?

I am experiencing dizziness especially when first arising in the morning although I get up slowly and carefully. Am 80 years old- on Valsartan 160 mg at night and metapropolol 25 mg morning and night. Blood pressure in AM 40 higher than in afternoon. On vacation and not able to reach my own MD. YYYY@YYYY

Hi,

I understand your concern.

Dizziness first arising in the morning is due to oscillations in blood pressure (bp). I advise to monitor your bp and record the results for future reference.

If bp is found higher than normal, then, diuretics should be added to your actual antihypertensive therapy.

As you are on vacation, then, if bp is high, then, take garlic (raw or as supplement) to help lower it. Avoid salty foods.

Hope this helps.
