Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son has been having some depression and anxiety and was put on a couple of medications. He is having problems with dizziness and nausea and vomiting. His medications are duloxetine 60mg daily, gabapentin 300mg 3 times a day, and mirtazapine 15mg daily. He has talked with his dr and has decreased his Gabapentin to 100mg 3 times a day. I was wondering if they are interacting badly. Any suggestions on what can be done to mitigate the side effects?
Hi and welcome to ASK A Doctor service.
I have read your question and here is my advice.
All of these drugs can causes nausea and dizziness.
Specially Duloxetine and Mirtazpinie. Though there is no gross interaction between the three , but all of them can causes sedation so when all three are used at same times it become very difficult to tolerate them .
I also wonder why Mirtazipine and Duloxetine both are given at same time , because they both are used mostly for same disease. I would like you discuss this with his psychiatrist; personally I won't advise both of Mirtazipine and Dulaixtine at same time .
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
