My daughter is 37 weeks pregnant (she is 31 years old) first pregnancy. She was told today that her amniotic fluid went from 16cc s to 8cc s in one week. Her sister had a full term stillboard due to placenta issues, so needless to say we are all concerned. Is there a reason for such a drastic drop in amniotic fluid?
well amniotic fluid more than 5 cc is considered normal at term. anything less than 5 cc is oligohydramnios. sudden fall indicates decreased excretion by fetus and more absorption. i feel she should be followed up with biophysical profile twice weekly hence forth till 40 weeks so that if the profile is deranged , a decision to terminate pregnancy can be undertaken on time. regards
