Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 64 and getting very lightheaded I have a pulse rate of 50 at rest.It has dropped over the last 3 years from 65 bpm.Exersise is restricted to work(painting and decorating) and walking.Drowsiness is a problem. As an aside ,I am taking 125mg of thyroxin per day.Fluoxetine at 20mg per day just over the winter months Any ideas?
Hi, light headness and low pulse rate indicates possible hypotension secondary to low thyroid hormone levels. You need to get evaluated for thyroid profile to possibly increase the medication. Meet you doctor to get it tested and get a prescription if levels are abnormal. Drowsiness needs to be treated at earliest as a fall can result in major fractures making you immobile/ bed ridden. If you have any further queries, do ask, will be happy to help again.
