A friend ......34 yr old female........developed dry , chapped lips a month ago.....apllied moisturizers.....then they cracked , started oozing after becoming swollen during this past week . Has seen a doctor who prescribed antibiotics (worked) then steriods (after two days when antibiotics stopped working). What causes dry , chapped lips in the first place ?
You could be having cheilitis which is inflammation of lips. How frequently you apply moisturizers. Make sure that your moisturizer is made exclusively for lips and do apply very frequently. The common cause of dry lips are environmental changes and drugs such as isotretinoin can also cause dry lips. Please do visit a Dermatologist who will help you in identifying the cause of cheilitis and will initiate the best possible treatment for you.
