the skin on my ears gets dry and scaley. When the skin dries out it can be peeled off. When that happens the skin on the ear feels wet until it dries again and then peels again. It itches something fierce and feels thick and feels hot with fever. Could this be some type of fungas. Would I need to go to a skin dr or my regular md? What can this be?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your case history you are having seborrheic dermatitis. My treatment advice is - 1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply an emollient cream like Enmoist cream twice daily on it. 3. Apply an antifungal cream like ketoconazole cream twice daily on affected skin. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral fluconazole taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
