What Causes Dry Cough After An Accidental Fall On Chest?
My 86 year old husband tripped and fell forward onto a concrete floor. The doctor assured him that there are no fractures, only bruising .Since then he has developed a cough and gets little sleep because of the dry cough. He doesn t have a cold. He fell nine days ago.
Hi, Thanks for asking. Based on your query, my opinion is as follows. 1. Possible coincidental or mild laryngeal inflammation secondary to stretching of neck during fall. 2. Cough suppressant like codeine sulphate, salt water gargling and lozenges will be helpful. 3. Avoid excessive coughing, it can cause more chest pain. Not to worry. It will reduce within a week. Hope there is no fractures. If any pain, paracetamol may be taken. Hope it helps. Any further queries, happy to help again.
