Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
A friend is in the hospital in Johnson City, TN. Admitted Fri night last week with dry cough and weakness. Admitted to PCU and intubated. Transferred to larger facility on Saturday to ICU. Intubated, pic line in on Monday. Seizures, high fever (105), medically induced coma. Tues - tentative diagnosis of Coronavirus SARS. Coded last night followed by explosive release of bowels. Fully extended stomach. Internal bleeding suspected. What could this be? SARS makes no sense. No known exposure.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I really appreciate your concern, SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome) is the viral infection and it goes into complication very rapidly. SARS is known all over the world and it is a fetal kind of infection. It is difficult to know the source of it, but the clinical confirmation is enough.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Akhtarhusain
