What Causes Dry Mouth After Increasing Levothyroxine Dosage?
I had my thyroid removed a few years ago and just recently (4 month) move from 90MCG to 125 MCG Levothyroxine. About a month ago I started having bad dry mouth. Could the upgrade in dosage have caused the dry mouth 2 month after taking it. The dry mouth started 5 weeks. I m 57 5 -11 172 lbs. Blood pressure 115/78 very healthy. Not sure what is going on.
Incresing the dosage of thyroxine may won't cause dry mouth and eye. It may be due to dehydration or vitamin deficiencies or antihistamine or anti cholinergic drug intake etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Avoid spicy food and alcohol avoid smoking and caffeine drinks.Use artificial tear drops. if symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
