I have dry patches on my butt cheeks, both sides. I try exfoliating and putting vasaline on it hoping to get smooth skin again but it doesn't really work. It will soften for a lil while but the dry patches still return. It has been like this for about a year now. What is the problem??
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Dry scaly skin on the buttocks, suggests to me that it could be a fungal infection of over there (Tinea cruris). I would ask you get a KOH wet mount from the scale, for a confirmatory diagnosis.
If KOH wet mount shows fungal elements, then you could apply a topical OTC antifungal cream, that is clotrimazole cream, twice daily for 4 to 6 weeks. An oral antifungal, that is fluconazole 150mg once weekly for 4 to 6 weeks is also advisable for a confirmed fungal infection.
An OTC antihistamine, that is cetrizine 10 mg once daily would help you in providing symptomatic relief from itching.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
