What Causes Dryness In Lips And Mouth?

I have redness of the lips and rawness of the lips. Also the inside of my lips have a dry raw feeling, including my tongue. I don t seem to be able to taste food. My mouth stays dry inside all the time. I drink liquids and chew gum to keep my mouth moist. My doctor has treated me for thrush of the mouth with a swish and swallow, which did not work. He also gave me an anti-bacterial cream to put on my lips, which is not helping. Do you have any ideas for me.

The dryness of the lip and mouth can be because of the obstruction in the salivary gland ducts secondary to stones in the duct. Nothing to be panic, consult a oral physician and get it evaluated. Mean while you can use artificial salivary substitutes like carboxy methyl cellulose. You need to get a ultrasound done to confirm the diagnosis.
