What Causes Dryness Of Skin And White Area On My Lips?
Hi there. The other day I noticed some white areas of what appeared to be dry skin on my lips (both on my face and around my vaginal area.) I scratched at it to see if it would dissapear, and applied Vaseline to my vaginal area. However, my lips on my face AND my vaginal area are now red and sore, and my lips on my face bleed occasionally. I am not sure whether or not the redness around my vagina is due to a reaction to my sanitary pads (causing me thrush or itchiness) - because it seems strange that my lips on my face are also showing the same trend? Am not sure whether or not this is clearly a symptom of an STI. Thanks.

Understanding your concern. As per your query dryness of skin and white area on my lips along with the same symptoms on vaginal area could be due to inherited ichthyoses such as ichthyosis vulgaris. It could be due to dehydration of oral cavity. Herpes virus infection causing cold sores could be one of the reason for this. It could be due to fungal infection causing white dots which can also be due to mineral deficiency of iron, vitamin B12 and folic acid. . Need not to worry, visit dentist once and get it examined. Once proper evaluation and examination is done, treatment can be started accordingly. You should not use hard and harsh shop for bathing. Apply a plain emollient like moisturex soft cream on body, a small amount can also be applied on the face. You should reapply it as well. Use topical anesthetic and analgesic gel. Maintain proper oral hygiene. drink plenty of water. Take multivitamins in diet.
