I am experiencing a dull pain in my left breast. The pain is dull, but is worse when I press on it. The pain feels to be behind my nipple or to the left side. I am 26, no children. It has been like this for a couple of weeks. I had a regular menstrual cycle, although due to missing a few birth control pills, my period was longer that ususal. I have been feeling this pain for about a month. I rotate my bras regularly, and have not had any new ones recently that would seem to be causing the discomfort.
General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, I understand your query. The pain in breast you have seems to be breast being sensitive to hormonal changes in body.( there is involvement of milk glands in breast tissue/milk ducts - behind nipples) because of - - the hormones inbuilt in contraceptive pill you are taking, - because of missing pills -resulting in hormonal ups & downs in your system. * You should take the pills regularly without a break/ follow & observe pain & swelling for a month & visit your treating doctor for change/stoppage of the pills you are taking. By the time, you can take non steroidal anti inflammatory drug ( like Ibuprofen)/cap. Evion 500 mg daily & get some relief . * I feel you are cautious about having a properly fitting/supportive bra. * avoid exhaustive high impact work outs like jogging , aerobics. * have fat free diet. Thanks.
