What Causes Dysphagia In The Throat And Chest Area?

all of a sudden when I eat now I feel like food is getting stuck in my lower through, high chest area. Doesn t matter what I eat. I do have history of GERD, but take medication which typically manages it. But all foods, even mild foods like bananas give me the same sensation of food being stuck in throat/chest area

Hi. Thanks for your query. I am pleased to answer it. Your symptom of difficulty in swallowing, in the background of GERD, has several causes - most common one is Esophagitis. This means inflammation of the inner aspect of your food pipe. This is the early stage which is reversible. But if not taken care of, may lead to other more serious consequences like stricture esophagus (narrowing of your food pipe). So I suggest that you consult your gastroenterologist and undergo an upper G.I endoscopy, if not done recently. Hope this helps.
