When I sleep on my left ear, I wake up to numbness, but it usually goes away. Now for about 4 days, I have the same numbness with a feeling of ear not clearing.. It is not the feeling like when you change altitude, it is just a numbness and sound is muffled.. never had it before.

As per your query you have symptoms of ear numbness which is because sometimes upper respiratory tract infection, when left untreated spread to ear through Eustachian tube and infect ear , which can cause pain and pressure in ear and numbness can occur due to nerve dysfunction or infection. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may examine ear with otoscope and can advise for audiometric testing as well. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics such as amoxicillin along with anti inflammatory medications. If numbness or chemical test doesn't improve then consult neurologist .
