I suffer from Eustachian tube dysfunction. I have had t tubes inserted, to which my body rejected and now I have perforated eardrums for the last 8 months, causing multiple ear infections. I am to have a tympanoplasty soon but in the mean time my left ear is been painful especially when I burp. Why does my ear hurt when I burp?

hi,
Burping and hiccups cause sudden opening of the Eustachian tube causing sharp pressure changes in the middle ear leading to your symptom.. Has a nasal endoscopy been done to check the inner end of the Eustachian tube? This may explain why only one side hurts..consult your ENT doctor and discuss regarding surgical options for Eustachian tube dysfunction...regards..
