What Causes Ear Pain When There Is No Present Infection?

What causes ear pain but there is no present infection? Both ears hurt all the time and can be extremely painful sometimes. Been to all kinds of doctors different answers from everyone. ENT says nothing is wrong. Been in pain for over 3 months now. Now I m be treated with another antibiotic and a steroid. Over the counter pain medicine does not do anything for this pain. I ve tried everything and can not get any relief.

Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

Mild infection in throat or nose can produce such painful symptoms on ear. It can be because of inflammation over nasopharynx that causes negative pressure in ear cavity and can cause pain by retraction.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Chirag Vaghela, Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist
