What Causes Early Periods On Taking Birth Control Pills?
Hi, I m 17 and have just started a low dose birth control pill. My periods have been normal up until the pill and I started taking the pill on day 1 of my cycle. On day 14 I started bleeding, not as heavy as my heavy periods but more than spotting. There were some blood clots in it and it continued for 6 days. That was yesterday and I have three pills left until the sugar pills. Just wondering if that s normal and if I will still get my period on the sugar pills?
You have not mentioned which pills you are taking. Early periods or spotting can occur in the first few weeks of starting the BC pills or when you miss the pills, continue to take the pills, if bleeding gets heavier, consult your health care provider.
Birth control pills having estrogen & progestin are more effective than the progestin-only pill. You should take the pills everyday at the same time, if you forget, you should take it immediately. If you are taking any other medication or had a vomit, the efficacy of the BC may get reduced, use condoms then but continue to take the pills. Condoms always protect you from STD (Sexually transmitted diseases.)
