My 95 year old Mom has had a skin condition which started on her leg, is spreading now, for over a year now.The cream prescribed by a dermatologist has done nothing to improve the condition. Trying to get an appointment with a new dermatologist is taking months.A friend who is a nurse suggested this may be elephant skin...what is this and how is it treated?
I think you mean thick skin when you say elephant skin. Is it itchy? Does it involves both legs? It could be lichen simplex chronicus- common treatable condition. But, thick skin can be seen in a variety of skin conditions and need clinical evaluation for a definitive opinion. It would help me narrowing the list of possible conditions if you add photograph. Thanks
