What Causes Elevated GGT Levels?

My husband have increased gama gt since he hade h/o cholycystitis12years,after cholysystectomy still raised till800,noobese not drinker ,h/o hep c now pcr negative,his sgpt also still 80,since 2years mild fatty changes also,but he have episodic right hypochondriac pain12years ,according to doctors functional bowl syndrome ,we r worried about raised gamma ft &sgpt

With regards to elevated GGT and SGPT for such a long time, I can say that:
- First of all, we need to rule out autoimmune disorder like autoimmune hepatitis or primary biliary cirrhosis.
He needs to do :
- ANA
- AMA
- SMA
to rule out autoimmune hepatitis.
