What Causes Elevated Blood Alcohol Levels Without Drinking?

I go to a pain doctor every month. My drug screen test has shown high amounts of alcohol in the long term test and zero amounts in the short term test. I do not drink at all. None. I have never smoked in my life either. I just had an EGD done last Friday and the doctor did a biopsy of a spot on my stomach. I also have gall stones that I just found out about. I have lost 48 pounds since February. We thought that it was because I just lost my mom. Now it seems like there’s something else going on. What do you think?

It is possible in a rare condition also called auto brewery syndrome or gut fermentation syndrome in which the yeast present in the gut may convert the carbohydrates into alcohol. So please check it out. and consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
