What Causes Elevated Body Temperature?
My mother in law went to hospital with stroke like symptoms, in the ER body temp went to 92.1 rectal. They got it back up after some time it did it again last night she has never had this problem before . I was told it was due to her age I am not buying this what could it be?

first we dont consider that elderly feveris h except when rectal temperature exceeds 100.8f and oral more than 100f
so your mother was not feverish at that time at 92.1
but you can feel her feverish as there is whatis called flushing that make you feel your mother fever and she is not
this flushing may caused by hyperdynamic circulation or elevated blood pressure or severe stress or sever asthma
we should not do any thing or suspect fever except if rectal temperature exceeds 100.8 and if that happened we do blood tests and urine culture for investigation of any bacterial infection that may cause that
but in your case you need not to do any thing ...your mother is fine and no suspection of infection or fever...just if she has any circulation problems or hypertention should be managed for that but she is free of fever and infection
