In MRI scans pituitary gland not visible so it appears like empty so it is called empty sella. In primary empty sella aracnoid layer extends below the pituitary cause compress pituitary cause empty sella. Secondary empty sella due to tumor or trauma or infection or in pregnancy induced hypertension may cause pituitary aloplexy mayead to empty sella.
