I am 37 yrs old and have three children. The youngest is 3yrs old. I have uterine fibroids and a small cyst. Since last year the fibroids has gotten bigger and now I m told the is endometrial thickening, which was not on ultrasound a year ago. I have no unusual bleeding. I do have pelvic pain and rectal pain every now and then, about once every three months. Can the endometrial thickening be from fibroids getting larger or can it be a sign of something more serious?
Hello, Thanks for trusting us with your health concern. I have gone through your query and would like to offer some suggestions. The cause of the endometrial thickening of recent onset could be hormonal, the same reason for the enlargement of the fibroids as well. The pelvic and rectal pain could be due to the pressure effect of the fibroids as they enlarge. Torsion can occur when there is a peduncle. You need an endometrial biopsy to detect the pathology and plan further management. Hormone courses are often helpful. Take care.
