I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns...
As per your complain swollen taste buds at the back of tongue seems to be enlarged circumvallate papillae and the scratchy throat can be due to throat infection as infection in throat that can be due to bacterial or viral infection and it can cause inflamed throat and as the circumvallate papillae are in close location with the throat they can also get inflamed.. You can take a course of antibiotics like Augmentin, anti-inflammatory medicine like Naproxen, do warm saline gargles, avoid hot and spicy food and take ample of fluids.. In case if still it does not resolve in 1 week consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated..
Hope this information helps..
