What Causes Excessive Hair Fall After Discontinuing HRT?

I am 65 and have stopped taking HRT. My hair is falling out much more than normal. I have read that this is not unusual after stopping HRT. My question is how long does this continue or should I be prepared to continue to lose hair? Should I seek help?
