What Causes Excessive Phlegm Accumulation In The Throat?
Having excess phlem hanging up in my throat and having to cough very hard several times to get it to come up so I can spit it out. Mostly happens in the morning after waking up and after evening meals. I have been scoped a couple times due to reflux to check things out and it looked fine. Is there something I can take to prevent this? I am taking Prilosec for the reflux.
You are having a history of acid reflux for that you are taking omeprazole drug. Omeprazole like proton pump inhibitors useful in acid reflux. Your cough can be because of acid reflux.
But if cough is wet than bronchitis should be ruled out by Auscultation, examination and chest x-ray if needed. For thick mucus Ambroxol containing syrup can be prescribed. Avoid excess spicy foods. Put a pillow below the head while sleeping. Go to sleep two hours after a meal. Consult a physician for examination.
