Hello! Welcome to HealthcareMagic!

I can understand your concerns. Presently, you're in alcohol dependence (addiction) state with withdrawal features. When you don't take alcohol, you will have side-effects like tremors, sleep disturbances, palpitations soon due to sudden stopping of alcohol. To control these side effects, we should look for a drug which acts similar to alcohol and which had fewer side effects. So, the best choice is a tablet Librium. It acts similar like alcohol. So, it will control sleep disturbances and tremors. We adjust the dosing of the drug based on daily consumption of alcohol and slowly taper the dose of the drug in 1-2 weeks. So, don't worry. In sleep, all your withdrawal features and craving for alcohol subsides. Also, no need to taper the dose of drugs also. Finally, my last advise: STOP ALCOHOL COMPLETELY.

Hope this clarifies your concerns. Thank you for the query.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagawan Rajana, Psychiatrist
