What Causes Excessive Sweating And Hot Flashes During The Night?
I am 75 years old and have many hot flashes each day and sweats at night making it hard to sleep. Very healthy otherwise. Have taken premarin from mid 80 s to late 90 s, then celexa for 10 yrs, and finally minivelle patches twice a week. Want to be off the patches . They don t help.
Hi, Thanks for asking. Based on your query, my opinion is as follows. 1. Usually hormonal variations during menopause is cause of excessive sweating and hot flashes. As, it is not helping, other tests necessary. 2. Will require a complete hemogram to evaluate for infections. If any variation, further investigation necessary. 3. Other common cause of night sweats, at this age could be lymphoma or secondary to medications. Peripheral smear or lymph node biopsy can be helpful. 4. Rarely a whole body PET scan may be necessary to rule out any tumors. More clinical details and test reports necessary for further evaluation. Hope it helps. Any further queries, happy to help again.
