What Causes Extreme Fatigue In A Child?

Hello, my 15 and a half year old son is tired all the time. He falls asleep in school. He is very active. He was diagnosed with ADHD in the first grade and has been on meds since then, up until this past summer we took him off of it. Could this be a sugar problem or maybe hypothiroidism. He is 5 11 and about 165 lbs.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

15 year old extremely tired could be due to early onset diabetes hypothyroidism hypokalemic periodic paralysis anemia or extreme sports. Please check with doctor and get lab tests done for dyselectrotemia hemoglobin along with thyroid level and CPK level.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Prasanna Lakshmi, Pediatrician
