What Causes Extreme Gastritis With Diarrhea?

I started 6 days ago with extreme gas pains and diarrhea. Food passing thru mostly undigested. The gas pains have mostly gone, now occasionally just mildly uncomfortable. The diarrhea lasted most of one day and has been very loose stools since. Anything I eat or drink goes straight thru. I only had water, a handful of saltines and a banana for three days. Then just added very little solid food yesterday. Seem to be digesting food better but still having up to 6 hours of loose stools starting within 3 or 4 hours of eating. What could be going on? It is a 2 1/2 hour drive to a doctor and cannot get there easily.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of extreme gastritis with diarrhea which could occurs due to infection by H. pylori, food intolerance, gastroesophageal reflux, parasitic infection, food allergy or inflammatory bowel disease. Need not to worry. First of all we have to identify whether its allergic or infective and start treatment accordingly. I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist for proper examination. Doctor may prescribe medications such as ornidazole , albendazole , omeprazole along with loperamide. You should take plenty of fluids to re-hydrate. Take diet rich in fibers as well. For now eat light and non spicy , eat fresh fruits and vegetables and eat fruits like banana. You should avoid intake of outside food. Take diet rich in multivitamins and avoid any oily sharp and fast food.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
