What Causes Extreme Pain Once A Month During Period Time?

Have had a lower cyst attached to my lower spine ; which I have checked every six months --- it is attracted to the nerves --- the other issue is : I have been having extreme pain once a month during period time -- but I was told I am post menopausal --- no bleeding for years -- I know I have a cyst there too , but I m confused about the pain ?? What could that be ??

Hello,
I have gone through your query and understood the concern. If you have been confirmed to be in menopause and have not had any menstrual cycles since a long time, it is not possible to have cyclical hormone changes. During reproductive life, if there are any endometriotic cysts, there can be periodic pain in them as the hormones fluctuate. The origin of the cyst attached to the spine should be known. You can get cyclical hormone assay to exclude hormone fluctuation as the cause of the pain. Check for any infections and get treated. A sonogram of the pelvis helps to detect if any other cysts are present. Hope this helps.
