What Causes Eyelids To Be Yellowy-brown?

I have recently noticed that my eyelids are yellowy-brown. I am a 52 year old female. I do not wear eye shadow. The brown areas are on the top eyelids of both eyes, similar pattern, no pain, no itching. The only medication I take is asthma inhalers. (Late onset asthma-1year ago). Any ideas?
