What Causes Face Tingling With Jaw And Neck Swelling After Ingestion?
I just ate a salad with blue cheese....which I do all the time....As I ate I got a tingling sensation on the right side of my face and jaw...now my right side of jaw and neck are swollen....What to do about it ...Is it a salvary gland problem...very strange
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood the concerns. Rating the things like salad with blue cheese routinely may not have caused the swelling on the face and neck. If the swelling is in the parotid gland area which is has a fixed anatomy in front and below the ear then this may be a parotid gland swelling which can come due to a stone in the duct. This can be checked instantly by the following ways: Compress gradually on the swelling, it may reduce with lots of saliva in mouth if this is due to Parotid gland. Otherwise it can be due to other reasons: Angioneurotic edema. Swollen lymph nodes and so on. Taking a pinch of salt or sugar on tongue will increase the swelling if it is due to parotid gland. Get this confirmed by an Ultrasonography or CT scan of the area. If this is a mass go for FNAC to know the exact diagnosis. Further management will depend upon an opinion of an ENT Surgeon or a General Surgeon.
