What Causes Fat Deposition On The Sides Of Rib Cage?

hi I have what appears to be a fat deposit on the left side of my rib cage about the size of a fist. The right side is noticeably smaller. It seems the left side is also getting larger, creating more of a lump look. I'm 40 but noticed this several years ago.

Hello and thanks for your question.
It sounds like you have a lipoma. This is a fatty deposit that some people get. They are not dangerous. They can be removed surgically but often come back even if they are removed. Have your doctor look at it at some point and make sure they think it is a lipoma and not some other condition.
Best wishes to you.
