Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Should I be concerned about my 88 yr old father s symptoms - feeling weak, not at all hungry, but forced himself to eat a little. Then he has been sleeping all day in his chair or on the couch. He won t eat any dinner, and would only take two swigs of ensure. His weakness is common, and he usually recovers with fluids and/or food. Now he says he has asour taste in his mouth.
If the symptoms recently started, they can be due to a new onset infection such as a viral illness.
If they have been persisting for a long period of time, then he needs to be assessed by his doctor. This would include physical examination and likely blood tests such as complete blood count.
I hope this helps
