I have hashimotos. (Thyroid) The medication that I have been taking has helped very little and they think it might be some other sort of disease. Any ideas? Symptoms: - fatigue - irritability - slight weight gain - loss of focus and memory recall (I used to have an excellent memory, I could read a paragraph once and tell you exactly what was on it) Important to know: - Getting 9-10 hours of sleep a night - Have CRPS and possibly EDS - Family history of autoimmune diseases.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Hashimoto thyroiditis is the most common cause of hypothyroidism. All your symptoms can be attributed to Hypothyroidism. You mention that you take the medication for low thyroid and considering all your actual symptoms,in my opinion you are not taking the right doses. Your body may need more Levothyroxine(the thyroid medication) to feel better. For this reason,my advice is to do the TSH test to see if you need doses adjustment of the thyroid hormone replacement therapy.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
