What Causes Feeling Of Hard Lump In Throat?

I m feeling something hard in the back of my throat. I only feel it when I stretch my neck in a certain position. I only started feeling it today. I ve ben a smoker for 25 years. I rarely drink at all. I m 42 years old male & I m worried I might have throat cancer. that is the only issue I feel. No pain or anything else. I plan on making a Dr. appt. tomorrow but the possibilities of what it might be is making me very anxious. Please help me. Thank you in advance.

It's a good thing you are so alert to the changes in your body, but do not worry yourself yet; you could be simply suffering from allergy or acid reflux.
Do get yourself checked out properly but the chances of it being cancer are slim, because then the first symptoms would be difficulty in swallowing or pain or a change in voice.
Changes in neck position could alter the tone of the muscles of the throat, making the feeling of a lump very strong. Good luck with your check up!
