What Causes Feeling Of Having Lump In Throat?

I've been having this constant feeling like there's a lump in my throat and it won't go away. It started out feeling like a hair in my throat but it's gotten worse over the past week. Nothing is helping, and it's just getting annoying. Sometimes it's hard to swallow and sometimes it's painful. Any ideas as to what it might be?
